Grounding
Grounding is the practice of reconnecting with the present moment through your body, your senses, and the world around you. It’s about coming home to yourself.
It is a practice that holds ancient wisdom, often called earthing.
When you’re grounded, you’re in your body. You feel your feet on the floor, your breath moving through you, and a sense of here-ness, even when things feel shaky or overwhelming.
The term “grounding” comes from body-based work like bioenergetics, where Alexander Lowen described it as a way of living with vitality and full presence, rooted in the body and connected to life. In somatic work today, grounding is used to regulate the nervous system, especially when we’re anxious, scattered, or triggered.
When we’re dysregulated, we often leave the present moment without realizing it. Our mind jumps to the future or loops in the past. Grounding helps anchor us, so we can meet the moment with clarity and compassion.
Iffirmation:
What if I’m already supported, and the earth is holding me, right now, exactly as I am?
